Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most famous roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Her parents had divorced and she relocated with her mother to Los Angeles. It was a struggle to get by when she got her first role in acting in Rachel's Room's leading character. The TV film Murder in Greenwich that she appeared in, where she played a 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford played the lead actress on Lost during its initial two seasons. In 2004 she received the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace decided to leave the show to focus on her film career. The actress had been on the show with Tom Welling opposite in The Fog in 2005. In addition, she appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. The actress reprised her character for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a contemporary adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised her role as Shannon in Lost, including the finale. She was in 2013 for the sixth episode of Californication. She plays Faith as an admirer and muse to the celebrities. She is a Gyllenhaal. She's the child of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), she is a bit more senior that Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager she appeared in small roles in films made by her father. She also was co-starring with her sister in Donnie Darko which is a cult classic. She then appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received praise from critics for her lead performances in Secretary (2002 the erotic romance drama) as well as Sherrybaby (606) and Sherrybaby (606) that earned their Golden Globe Award nods. She starred in numerous commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However it was her performance in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). After her successful performance as an unmarried mother on the screen in Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she was in comedies and dramas which included Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012 In addition to her role as a Secret Service agent, she was also seen as a character in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The most recent roles include her character as the primary protagonist of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021, Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directed debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
